Captain Joseph Adam Lyall passed away unexpectedly on July 23, 2022, at the age of 43, in Pavones, Costa Rica after suffering a heart attack. ‘Captain Joe’ had fished on a charter boat earlier, catching rooster fish with friends. He went for a surf afterwards but cut the session short because of chest pain. Pavones is an ‘off the grid’ destination and has no hospital or clinic nearby. CPR was performed but to no avail.
Captain Joe had a passion for fishing. He was the Captain of the Blackhawk, which he won many tournaments with while traveling back and forth from the Dominican Republic. Joe was from New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He leaves behind a devastated wife and three daughters.
His wife Tara writes on Facebook; “Words can’t even describe how devastated I am. He is the rock to our family, my everything, my best friend. I can’t even comprehend him not being by my side forever. He is my person and my love. I loved him with my entire being and we built an incredible life together full of plans and adventures – one that is cut too short.”
